“This painting began as an abstract color painting. As the first few layers dried, I clearly saw a figure in the brush strokes. The movement of the painting reminded me of a storm. I worked with those two simple ideas to create this piece.” The figure is defiant and calm. The storm raging above is ineffectual on the serene scene. The simplicity of the figure and the brush strokes add to the overall whirlwind feel. Danielle explains, “Have you ever gone through a struggle or challenge and came out improved? The waves battered and shaped your soul. The winds carving and changing you from the inside. The growth could have never happened without that storm. There is an old saying I love, ‘A smooth sea never made a good sailor’. It is our struggles and challenges in life that help shape and polish us into gems.” This painting is a beautiful piece that would brighten any room and inspire you to brave every storm.
