About Danielle
Did you always want to be an artist? Growing up I was always creative and tried different mediums such as jewelry, metal, wood working, clay, painting. I really fell in love with painting in college and it is my passion.
How long have you been painting? Right around thirty years. I enjoy watercolor, oil and acrylic painting.
Did you go to art school? Yes! I attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. I received my Bachelors of Fine Art with an emphasis in painting and drawing.
What inspires you? Nature and travel inspires me. I also enjoy motorcycling and gardening. I gain a lot of inspiration from connecting with others. Deep conversations and sharing ideas inspire my work. I collect knives and vintage clothes. And plants, I’m houseplant obsessed.
About Danielle’s Art
What medium do you work with? Anything I can make a mark with! The list includes oil, acrylic and watercolor paints. As well as dye and water based inks. I often use charcoal or pastel to make lines. I typically work on canvas because I like that it is a finished piece, ready to hang. Rich, velvety paper also makes an appearance in my studio. I like to keep many tools at hand in my art arsenal.
Is your art original? Yes!
Why buy an original? It’s a one of a kind baby. Original pieces have so much depth and detail. From the fingerprints to the brushstrokes, an original is a moment captured.
How do your price your work? I believe that everyone should have a one of a kind, original piece of artwork in their home that speak to them. Art shouldn’t be something that is just for the elite. Art is for everyone. Typically, I price paintings based on the size, materials, and time taken.
Where do you come up with the ideas? I try to inspire myself as often as possible, that includes exploring emotional ideas through conversation and meditation. Often times an image or a feeling will come to the painting during those times. For example, if I have a conversation with a friend about love, inevitably love and heart come through my work. I try to be observant of every moment and still allow the creation to take place without expectation or manipulation.
What is ‘intuitive painting’? A process I like to utilize while making art. I select materials and colors based on intuition. I try to clear my mind of all thoughts and projections and allow the painting to speak to me, to develop on its own. My goal is to reach the place of creation where I am a flute, allowing the colors and images to inform themselves.
Where do you show your work? Currently, I am showing work at Willow restaurant and the US Bank, St. John’s in Portland, Oregon.
Can I show your artwork for a business or event? Yes! E-mail me to set up an art show.
