This is the second winter tree I did in this simple palette. I was thinking about and trying to convey the beauty of winter. So often we see paintings of trees in full glory, bright green and full of fresh young leaves, or the ever changing colors of fall. Yet, there is beauty in the stripped down version of nature. The shape of the tree trunk, the curve of the limbs. In a landscape that seems ‘dead’, there is life bubbling just below the surface.
