‘Beetle’ is a whimsical abstract line painting. The pastel creates patchy muted lines in between blocks of heavy ink. Within the ink blocks are drops of what appears to be water, suspending the painting in that moment of creation. Danielle expounds on her use of mixed materials, “I love mixing materials and seeing how the react to one another. I use both alcohol and water based inks. I try to experiment every time I approach a canvas. Painting intuitively for me, means letting go of my ideas of what something should be. Making marks, laying down colors, painting over, taking away, all so that an image or color scheme can come to fruition through me.”
