A very fitting title for this bright piece. The greens are very vibrant, where the lines of the face are subdued and muted. Deep blue saturates the canvas in places and drips down into a light green background. Danielle clarifies the meaning, “I had started this painting as leaves, something green and natural. It wasn’t working for me. So I grabbed some ink and pastel sticks and tried to let go of any expectation. Imagine my surprise when a face emerged from the mess I thought I had just created! Instantly, I thought this is what Spring looks like when she’s sleeping.” We couldn’t agree more.
