This painting is both bright in color and subdued and serene in the look on the figure’s face. The eyes of the figure are closed and peaceful. I like depicting figures with closed eyes. The eyes can reveal a lot about what is beneath the surface. When the eyelids are closed it could be sleep, sorrow, or rest. On the other hand, it could represent peace, calm, or quiet contemplation. I used lime green matte acrylic paint and a rich purple pastel. Underneath you see a grey green background. Light accents of white on the lips and eyes give added detail. The hair swirls around appearing protective and comforting. The whole painting has that same feel.
