This painting is very similar to my other piece titled, ‘Midnight and Rose’. I wanted to use a limited palette, working with pink, blue, black and white. I chose to work with oils to express the thickness, the texture of the landscape. I wanted the sky to feel weighted with subtle color, solid. The slope of mountains is mimicked in the sky, creating a sweeping kind of feeling. I often set up my canvas this way, with the land occupying a fraction of the space. The sky, clouds and atmosphere being the focal point.
