The desert can be magical. To me, it exposes the passage of time and also the ‘bones’ of the earth. The rock formations are a wonder to behold. I wanted to express the aliveness of the rock. I used a dark background and layered the bright aqua above. There are times in the desert when the light highlights portions of rock in ways that make it appear animated. The paint is very textural, which adds movement to the piece. A beautiful, abstract painting that would compliment any interior.
